Slow down near horses!
In the last 5 years there have been 36 riders and 181 horses killed on UK roads.
To reduce these casualties The British Horse Society are sending out 3 clear messages to drivers.
- When you see a horse on the road SLOW DOWN to a maximum 15mph.
- When safe to do so pass the horse wide and slow, at least a small car’s width from the horse.
- Drive slowly away from the horse.
Remember horses can be unpredictable.
Experienced riders may help by giving hand signals.
YOU have a Duty of Care to all other road users.

Cheshire Police arrest 800% more Drug Drivers in the last 12 months
A new and easy to use ‘drug-a-lyser’ has made it easy to catch drug/drive offenders.
The drug drive laws make it illegal to drive with 17 controlled drugs above a specified limit in the blood.
Cannabis can slow reaction and decision times, distort distance and affect concentration. Cocaine leads to over-confidence and risky, aggressive,
fast driving. Ecstasy can cause distorted vision, altered perception and judgement of risks and an over-confident driving attitude.
Motorists who get behind the wheel after taking illegal drugs face a criminal record, loss of driving licence for at least a year and an unlimited fine, up to 6 months in prison and endorsement on driving licence for 11 years.
