In the last 5 years there have been 36 riders and 181 horses killed on UK roads.
To reduce these casualties The British Horse Society are sending out 3 clear messages to drivers.
- When you see a horse on the road SLOW DOWN to a maximum 15mph.
- When safe to do so pass the horse wide and slow, at least a small car’s width from the horse.
- Drive slowly away from the horse.
Remember horses can be unpredictable.
Experienced riders may help by giving hand signals.
YOU have a Duty of Care to all other road users.
